1999-2000 Annual Report

A. Leadership Update
Ed Teague will become the new chair of the IRC at the 2000 Pittsburgh conference.

B. Activities of the IRC in l999-2000
1. Pittsburgh conference session : Much effort has been focused on planning and coordinating the upcoming conference session l6 titled : "Entre Nosotros : Between Us : ARLIS/NA Looks at Latin American Art Librarianship" with three Latin American speakers. Jorge Orlando Melo from Colombia, will talk about his library the Biblioteca Luis-Arango as a museum and a library; Doralisa Duarte from Chile, will give a paper on a new information service concept from the library through data base development on patrimonial collections; and Helena Dodd Ferrez from Brazil, will talk about REDARTE, a Brazillian experience in art libraries network. This program couldn't have been realized without the generous donation of the Getty Grant Program giving us a travel grant to bring these three Latin American librarians to the ARLIS/NA annual conference. Beverly Karno, member of the IRC, consulted with Daphne Dufresne, chair and Marilyn Berger, board liaison, to identify and communicate with the chosen librarians.

2. Update columns: Jeannette Dixon (IFLA liaison) submitted an article advertising IFLA Jerusalem conference for issue no 6. The committee submitted items for the IRC Column for the issue no 2, 2000.

3. Affiliated organizations : the chair received a few affiliated organization publications :
IFLA Journal
IFLA. Section of Art Libraries. Newsletter
ARLIS/UK & IRELAND. News-sheet
Japan Art Documentation Society. JADS Information

A list of affiliated organization publications needs to be compiled. These publications should always be mailed to the chair of IRC.

4. IRC Webpage: The IRC webpage was established and is developed by Renata Guttman and hosted by the Canadian Center for Architecture. We have to put in addition more links with affiliated organization websites.
