See who is calling before answering!

Between the first and second ring, the name and number of the person calling will be displayed. If the caller has intentionally blocked his name and number, either “Unlisted Number” or “Unlisted Name” will appear on the screen. Request a phone compatible with caller ID.

* Caller ID includes the display of name and number. Certain numbers cannot be displayed: occasional blocking of the display, some cell phones, some public phones .

Call Waiting (*70)

Don’t miss important calls because you’re on the phone!

  1. To answer a second call (when you hear the sound signal), quickly press on Liaison or « Flash » (or press on the cradle switch).
  2. To return to your first caller or to go back and forth between calls, quickly press on Liaison or « Flash » (or press on the cradle switch).
  3. To end the first call before answering the second, hang up.
  4. The telephone will ring and you can answer your second call.
  5. To temporarily disconnect Call Waiting:
    Dial *70 (or 1170 on rotary phone). Two « beeps » will confirm that the service has been temporarily disconnected. Dial the number wish to reach. People who try to call you will hear a busy signal, or their call will go you your Voice Mail if you have subscribed to the service.

Internet: Punch in *70 before your connection number. When you surf the Internet the Call Waiting service will automatically be deactivated.

Things to know

The second caller who tries to reach you will hear a ring and not a busy signal. After the second “beep,” the call will be forwarded to your Voice Mail, if you have subscribed to it, or will go unanswered. You can learn the number of this second caller if you have Last Call Return service. The Call Waiting Service is not functional when the three-way conference call is activated. The caller hears a busy signal or his call is forwarded to your Voice Mail, if you have subscribed to it.

See the name and number of a caller on your screen when you are already on the phone. Requires a telephone compatible with Call Waiting Display.

Personalized Calling, by number

The Personalized Calling Service allows two extra phone numbers on the same line, each with its own distinctive ring.

Things to know

Numbers for Personalized Calling can be listed in the phone book for a low monthly fee. When you use the Call Forwarding service for your calls, the phone where the call is received sounds its usual ring, not the Personalized Calling ring. A subscriber can only have the Call Forwarding service on his main number (calls to the fax number will not be forwarded ). You can have up to three separate phone numbers, but you only have one telephone line.

Voice Mail

Voice Mail can take your messages when you cannot answer, or when you are already on the phone or on Internet.

Useful Information

You can listen to your messages, erase them or save them, 24 hours a day, from any touch-tone phone in your home or elsewhere. You know you have a message when you hear a short, choppy dial tone and when your light is flashing* (on certain phones). Nevertheless, you can receive or make calls. Voice Mail can take calls forwarded from up to two other numbers (cell phone number, chalet number, etc.) If you have Call Waiting and you are already on the phone when a second call comes in, if you do not wish to take the call, Voice Mail can take it automatically. You can program your phone so that Call Forwarding sends calls directly to your Voice Mail. To activate, press *72, and to deactivate, press *73.

* If the flashing light stays on when there are no messages, you can deactivate it by pressing *92.

Things to Know

Voice Mail can take your calls right after the first ring, or after the number of rings you choose. You have to arrange this with CoopTel. When you are away, you can avoid long distance charges by dialing 535-7000 (if you’re in Granby) or 548-7000 (if you’re in Upton) even if your voice mail is a 532 number. When a user picks up his messages, the choppy dial tone and, on some phone models, the flashing light will appear even if other messages have not yet been heard or if they have been saved. A message that you have heard will be saved for 14 days and messages you have not heard will be saved for 7 weeks. Voice Mail has the capacity to take 50 messages, each of 5 minutes duration..

Multi-User Voice Mail (*98)

Multi-User Voice Mail allows you to have up to 4 Voice Mail answering services per phone line. It allows each user to access his calls using his personal code and insures the confidentiality of the messages received

Speed Dialing 8 numbers (*74)

Save time!

Speed Dialing allows you to save time and avoid looking up emergency numbers or numbers you call frequently.
You can call as many as 8 different numbers by pressing a single digit.

Using the Speed Dialing service

To program or reprogram a phone number, remove the receiver and press *74 (or 1174 on a rotary phone. Dial the chosen code (between 2 and 9) and the number you wish to put in memory. You will hear two “beeps.” Hang up. To use speed dialing, take the receiver, press the code you want, and then press the # key. To deactivate a number in memory, remove the receiver and press *74 (or 1174 on a rotary phone). You will hear three “beeps,” dial the code of the number you wish to cancel. You will hear two “beeps.” Hang up.

Things to know

When you program long distance calls, you must dial “1” followed by the area code and the phone number. Quickly dial your most frequently used numbers with speed dialing

Conference Calls

Talk to two people in different places at the same time!

The Conference Calls service is useful to organize special events or to talk to friends and family. Three of you can talk at the same time, or you can put one person on hold while you talk to another.

Using Conference Calls

To bring a third person into a conversation, ask the person to stay on line. Press on Liaison or Flash (or press briefly on the cradle switch. You will hear three «beeps » followed by the dial tone. Dial the number of the third person. When that person answers, you can talk privately with him while the other person is on hold. If you wish to bring the third person into the conversation, press again on Liaison or Flash (or press briefly on the cradle switch) If the number of the third party is busy, or if there is no answer, or if you have dialed the wrong number, press twice on Liaison or Flash (or press briefly on the cradle switch).

Things to know

At any time, one of the parties can cease the communication by hanging up. If the person who set up the conference call hangs up, the call is terminated. Call Waiting and Call Waiting Display do not function while you are on a conference call. The individual trying to reach you will hear a busy signal, or his call will be forwarded to your Voice Mail, if you have subscribed to the service.

Last Call Return (*69)

The Last Call Return service allows you to get the number of the last person who called.

Using the Last Call Return service

Remove the receiver and dial *69 (or 1169 on a rotary phone). A voice message will give you the number of the last person to have called and will ask if you wish to return the call. For 30 minutes, Last Call Return will monitor the line and make 5 attempts to notify you. If, after 30 minutes, you are still on the phone, or far from your phone, the line monitor is automatically deactivated.

Things to know

You can make and receive calls while waiting for the signal from Last Call Return. You can use Last Call Return to consecutively return more than one call. The Last Call Return ring indicates that a phone line has become free without indicating which one, unless you are subscribed to Call Display.

Busy Call Return(*66)

No more redialing to reach a busy number!

Redialing continues to monitor the busy line and informs you when it is free..

Use of the Busy Call Return service 

Remove the receiver and dial *66 (or 1166 if you are using a rotary phone). A voice message will indicate that the line is busy. Hang up. Busy Call Return will ring (two short followed by one long) when the line is free. If the line is busy, it will be monitored for 30 minutes and redial it automatically when it is free. After the warning ring, remove the receiver and the number will be redialed automatically.

Things to know

You can have the number of the last call redialed whether or not it got through. When the redialed number is busy, a voice message indicates that the line is busy. Hang up. Two short rings followed by a long will be heard when the line is free. After the ring, remove the receiver and the number will be redialed automatically.

Automatic Call Forwarding (*72) / (*73)

Your call will reach you wherever you go!

With Automatic Call Forwarding your incoming calls can reach you at any number, including your cell phone, your pager, etc.

Using Automatic Call Forwarding

Remove the receiver and dial *72 (or 1172 if you are using a rotary phone). You will hear three “beeps” followed by the dial tone. Dial the number to which you want your calls forwarded. When your call is answered, stay on the line for at least five seconds to activate Automatic Call Forwarding. Hang up. If the line is busy, or if nobody answers, hang up. Repeat the steps after every two minutes. Two “beeps” in a row signal that Call Forwarding has been established. If you make a mistake dialing, start again. To inactivate Call Forwarding: remove the receiver and dial *73 (or 1173 on a rotary phone). You will hear two “beeps” which indicate that the function has been inactivated.

Things to know

When Call Forwarding is functioning and someone tries to reach you, you will hear a short ring. You can make calls, but not take them. If you activate Call Forwarding and channel your calls to a number outside of CoopTel territory, long distance charges will be levied.

Automatic Call Forwarding on busy or no reply

 

When you are subscribed to Automatic Call Forwarding on Busy and to Automatic Call Forwarding on No Reply, your calls can be forwarded to the same number, or to a different number.

Charges will be levied when a change has to be made to the permanent call forwarding number.
